VLC is a great media player, but the current 1.1.x version doesn’t support browsing with the DLNA UPnP client that is used by the TVersity server.
Fortunately TVersity’s RSS feeds (Podcast) can be used as a workaround until VLC’s UPnP support is fixed:
- Open up TVersity with Your browser, for example http://localhost:41952 (replace the IP with the actual TVersity server IP)
- Browse to Audio -> All (or whichever playlist you want to import to VLC)
- From the menu above, choose “All” instead of just 10 items

- Now right click on the RSS feed icon
and choose “Copy link address” - Open up VLC and expand Internet from the left column (if you can’t see it, press Ctrl + L to enable the playlist view)
- Click the small plus sign after Podcasts and paste the copied URL
Done.
You now have all Your music/videos available for streaming directly from VLC playlists.
